1/7 Hatsune Miku Tony Illustration Version
Twentieth PVC figure in counting. =) Yes, my first Hatsune Miku PVC figure is my 20th PVC figure (excluding bootlegs). I have been anticipating her for quite long, simply because she is my first Miku figure overall. As usual, I always underestimate the sizes of figures. She comes with a large box, and she is quite huge too. This time around, I tiled some of my pictures (but they are of higher resolution) for this review because there are too many pics, and I wanna avoid long scrolls.
The box is nothing unique, and not really attractive. But, epic fails with English spelling errors continue to plaque Japanese products. Not just Gunpla, figures too. “Illustlation” should be “Illustration”.
Out of Box
Miku figure; separated pair of hair parts (fortunately…); 2 support poles for her hair, a long and a short one; Mike; clear base
Evaluation
Pros: Excellent sculpt and flawless paintjob (I tried to find any flaws, but can’t find any!), best ass in a miku figure (lol), easy to disassemble from base
Cons: Clear poles required to prevent hair parts from sagging and possible leaning issues; connection to base can be better
So, as you can see from my evaluation, I can’t find any flaws in paintjob or sculpt. Unlike some figmas, Mac Factory did well on this. The clear poles for supporting the hair is compulsory and parts just sag due to weight. Well, of the hair parts are made of ABS, it will not require these poles, but it will make them fragile. So, PVC parts with poles is still the better option. The hair are separate parts, fortunately, so, no worries about parts breaking during shipment.
Also, parts to take note not to break them include the 2 square bands on Miku’s hair and 2 small hair strands behind her head near her neck.
The hair is indeed glossy, and to my liking. Soft PVC material which is semi-transparent at the edges.
The base design is decent, at least it is unique in a way. Clear brown in color. Connection to the base is just decent, and not too tight. This figure is easily one of the easiest figures to unplug from the base without needing much effort, unlike the tragic Nakano Azusa by Alter, which many people broke the pegs for the base. This poses another issue – you need to be delicate in handling this figure.
If you hold this figure on the body (which is still a better way), you can easily knock off the base if you are not careful; if you handle/carry this figure by holding the base, the figure will dislocate/unplug from the base if you are not careful (and if it drops on the floor, god bless you). So, moderate to loose connection also has its cons, although it makes disassembling easier. There is no way to make the pegs tighter IMO – you will break them.
BTW, I’m curious why Miku never slips or fell while performing. You see, her boots’ base is glossy and has no treads. LOL
So, let’s go with details of the figure itself. The pictures will describe everything.
Did a photoshop on this. Owh, from gloss into metallic hair... Original and photoshopped comparison. >.< Oh, the extreme saturation and contrast is intentional.
Conclusion
A Miku fan, but haven't bought her yet? Is that 2 clear support poles making you hesitating to buy one? Go and get one now if you haven't! Pardon that 2 poles (partly due to the pose of the figure itself), this figure is flawlessly made!
