Gundam 00 Fans Trolled by Malaysian TV Channel

Frankly, i didnt see this post coming at all. It was a surprise. On 29th January (Saturday) afternoon Asian time (it would be Friday 28th january in some western countries), one of my country's local television broadcasted a "new" Gundam movie which was called "Gandum Telur Dua Biji - A wakening of a Troll's Blazer". I already LOLed so hard reading the title. Yes, Gundam 00 Movie was dubbed into Malay Language and broascasted on TV3 channel! Note that this post originates here by someone else, but i decided to repost it in my blog as a "homage" to my home country's "epic attempt" in dubbing the movie.


For anyone who does not understand Malay language, Malays pronounce "Gundam" as "Gandum", and "Gandum" also means "wheat" in Malay. "Telur Dua Biji" means "two eggs" (double O, of course), but there's a second meaning to that malay phrase - *cough cough... Your balls... XD

FYI, it is not the first time an anime has been malay-dubbed. Previous Gundam series, Doraemon, Digimon and more suffered the same fate. Thank god Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu did not encounter this (was broadcasted in Japanese audio with malay subs) in a different TV channel. Although video quality is poor, credits to Anjerasu who put in a tough effort to record it on his mobile phone for 2 hours while trying not to laugh.

Poor Voice Actor selection made things funnier. There is even a protagonist's voice being the same voice as the Malay-dubbed Doraemon! Most of the time (happened in Digimon Tamers), cute characters are given hoarse/adult-like voice, and matured/adult characters or violent-looking characters are given a cute voice. =.=;

I have only 1 conclusion: Malay dubbing is the biggest crime Malaysian TV channels has committed against Anime. Not to mention the general ignorance of Malaysians against anime and trolling the fans greatly offended the anime fan community.

Did you like the movie by the way? It is utter rubbish to me. I view it as a display of GN fireworks against a bunch of T-1000 liquid Terminators which is futile resistance, with the worst ending ever for stating the whole conflict was just a misunderstanding. The movie is made to just produce a platform for new kits since there is not much new designs i can see (kit bashing). 00 Quanta is the Gundam which only appeared for 30 minutes (perhaps less) in the Anno Domini timeline, and made very few combats. It is still inferior to 00 Raiser to me as the quantum system is merely for communication purposes with no offense capabilities. This 00Q gundam is too overrated by fans.
