Nendoroid Black Rock Shooter
My 2nd Nendoroid after Kagami Kuro from Kodomo no Jikan. Well, I’m not the type who likes lotsa nendoroids, but there are exceptions. The other ones that I’m interested, if possible, are Hatsune Miku (there’s a re-release batch coming), Dead Master, Super Saber and Ore no Imouto’s Kousaka Kirino (preorder opened). I don’t want too many nendos in my want list because my main aim is still PVC figures followed by Gunpla, which already hurt my wallet.
Out of box, the usual contents – the nendo itself with multiple swappable body parts which everyone knows, Rock cannon, Black blade, a jacket part to be swapped if she is in a sitting pose (since the original jackets gets in the way) and the stand. At least it’s not some boring transparent stand. Rock cannon’s handle is removable and you insert a special peg inside to join to BRS’ wrist. However the main reason why I bought her, is the mission of clean-sweeping completed BRS figures, as well as that “face” with a plaster on her head – that’s just cute.
However, there’s one thing that irked me – there’s a paint flaw on one of her twin tails. It’s not a big issue and not obvious when you view her from most angles when you display her, unless you view at the head from the top and look carefully. I’m not bothered much by that because I never expected hand-painted figures to be perfect, but it depends on a case by case basis for me.
Here’s a summary of key features of this nendo:
Pros: One of the 3 faces is unique in expression, flawless paint job on her body/jacket and face (the parts I care the most for a BRS figure), most joints are firm and snug (except for the easily removable twin tail hairs), rock cannon is light and easy to pose, unique base
Cons: small paint job flaw on edge of her longer hair strand (I suppose it’s just some inconsistency in production), the handle of black blade is very thin and seem fragile – careful handling needed
Yes, that blade kinda made me nervous when I was inserting the handle into her grip. The hair strands are less snug and easy to plug out compared to other joints, in which, to me, is a good thing. In case you dropped her, her hair strands won’t break since it has joints and is easy to remove.
There’s not much pose I could do with her now since I lack nendos, other than some solo poses, or with her figma counterpart. For me, this nendo is a must have for nendoroid collectors.
