1/8 Black Rock Shooter Black Blade Ver.
Just posted the loot post yesterday, and now review? Yep, I juz wanna finish off my backlogs. Once again, i kept asking myself, why did you buy this figure?? I thought you were not interested at all? Yes. I wasn't, but I am now. LOL. It made me feel like a hypocrite for saying I didn't like this version compared to the other 2 PVCs while i actually bought it! Well, I got tired waitin' for my first BRS figure, that sums it up. I want all 5 BRSes and already secured 4 of them including this one. Ori version remaining.
Got her for RM 250 (6090yen), not bad a deal from a local retailer so I paid some extra to get her shipped express. Got her in 2 days, and although i have expected the box to be big, it is much much bigger and most importantly nicer than i thought. The illustrations on the box is just beautiful, and seriously, too much space is wasted. The box could be smaller. However, GSC made it a big box for a reason -not only for protection if the box gets dented, but to give you a premium feel that it is of high quality.
No hologram stickers verifying its authencity for this figure's case, but the quality of the figure, the presence of wires securing the 2 halves side of the supporting plastic inside, and the copyright logo of Huke under the base confirms she is authentic. =) Opens the box...
Now, the first thing i realised when i took her out of box, an inevitable paint scratch seem imminent. The front hair piece has to be swapped to show her eye flame, but the right end of the hair is in contact with her right arm. That means leaving a blue scratch on her arm at the contact point. I was right. T.T Though i tried my best to be careful it happened, but the scratch is hidden so it's fine.
Assembling the jacket is not tough, but sliding the katana into her hand gave me a chill i might break her arm cuz'it is a bit tight at first (and the fear of scratching off the gloss paint). But it wasn't that tough as i thought. The best parts of this PVC's gotta be the the face, outfit, and her jacket. The sord could have been improved (am i being picky with swordz juz because gunpla swords are chromed?!).
The base, which i thought has a solid piece of PVC, is a realistic hollow piece of plastic. @_@. The crack looks real, and i tried to "plant" the broken blade section of the sword in... The handle part seems only to be left on the base, not secured by any peg so i omitted it.
This figure is easily one of the most anorexic ones in my collection. =.= Her minimum waist circumference could easily match the circumference of thighs of some of my other PVCs of 1/8 scale! Although she is tall, her thin proportions make her look small but classy with the gloss black outfit. It wouldn't make any difference whether her bikini top is there - she's just THAT flat.
Now, pics... Hope i did a decent job this time, by exposing a (too bright) table lamp from the side with her in a black backdrop (T-shirt), but setting my camera exposure compensation down to -1.5, and switching off flash as well. Turned out not bad, because my cam is juz a shitty 3.2 handphone cam. I'm an amateur in photography so I;m at least pleased. On the slight loss of focus on really close up shots, that's due to the cam itself. I'm upgrading my cam soon in mid Oct.
